ISSN: 1876-0252
E-ISSN: 1876-0244
Description: The Journal of Hinduism publishes original research from leading scholars on all aspects of the Hindu religious traditions, past and present. The journal favors both presentations of new material based on textual studies or fieldwork, as well as discussions of theoretical issues. Inter-disciplinary perspectives and comparative studies are highly welcome as important contributions to a journal which examines issues of the Hindu traditions within the fields of Anthropology/Sociology, Art History and Architecture, Indology, Law, Linguistic, Literary Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies and Theology. The journal contributes to the development of Hindu studies by publishing on a variety of issues within the Hindu traditions such as the performative, narrative and intellectual traditions, historical developments, regional traditions, canon and texts, sacred geography, and contemporary issues such as feminism, nationalism, bioethics or human rights. Hinduism is not only a local, but also a global religion. Interactions with other religions both locally and globally are also a prime issue for the journal. The journal is interested in articles on the regional traditions as well as Hindu religious life in the many South Asian Diasporas and the emerging global Hindu discourses. The special feature of the journal is the unique way it mirrors the state of Hindu studies.
