Dear RISA-janaa.h, As the South Asia editor of the Religious Studies Review, I am soliciting essays for the journal. As the title indicates, the purpose of the journal is to review (usually) new books, largely in the form of brief reviews, most of them around 250 words. Essays in the journal must consider a number of books, say three to ten, that are thematically related. There must be at least a few new or recent books that are discussed in these articles, but there may also be older books, from the 90s or in exceptional cases earlier, that have elicited a long term response. A single issue might be discussed, such as the history of environmental scholarship in India as it relates to South Asian religion, or (to draw from an essay that will appear in the next issue), books on modern yoga (by Chris Chapple). An essay appeared last year on the influence of the work of Wilhelm Halbfass (by Loriliai Biernacki). An essay on the evolution of thinking on orientalism would be very welcome for example,or Hindu diaspora studies, the wealth of recent books on Tantra, new perspectives on South Asian religious history, etc., and so on. If you have ideas and wold like to discuss them with me, please do not hesitate. Please respond OFF LIST. Thanks Fred Smith Frederick M.
